Assignment 3 (Individual Work)

Due date: The soft copy to be submitted online before 23:59 pm on Friday, October 21.Weight: 20%

The aim of this assignment is to provide you with hands-on experience to apply the knowledge learned in this subject to problem solving. A student learning journey ontology with built-in examples has been created and provided to you. You are required to follow the instruction to add the annotations, individuals with related properties and the facets (e.g. range) of the properties.

Example individuals provided in the ontology are below:

1. An example annotation in the ontology for Master of Information and Communication Technology Advanced course.

Two files to submit:

File 1: An rdf/xml or owl file with all individuals and related properties in the ontology.

File 2: A word document that lists all the SPARQL queries and query outputs.

The Learning Journey Ontology

If the class names in the ontology are shown as IRI, you may go to View tab and select Render by entity IRI short name (Id) (see figure below) to show the explicit class names.

Using the SPARQL query to retrieve the following information from your ontology. For you to complete these queries, you first need to enter the relevant instances into the ontology. 0.5 mark per query.

Submission of the assignment

An appropriate assignment coversheet must be attached to all assignments and all sections of the coversheet completed, which is available from https://eis.uow.edu.au/current-students/student-support/assignments/index.html. Students are expected to keep a copy of all assignments handed in. Receipts will be issued on submission of assignments.

Marked assignments

Marked assignments will be handed-out in lab sessions. In accordance with University Policy marked assignments will usually only be retained by the Subject Coordinator/Tutor for 21 days after the declaration of the marks for that assignment. After that time the assignments will be destroyed.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism will not be tolerated and may result in the imposition of severe penalties. At the least, you will receive a zero grade for the piece of work concerned. Plagiarism is the use of another person’s work as if it is your own. The other person may be an author, a lecturer or another student. The work may previously have been published in print form or on the Web.
