Report requirements (2000 words report)
Table of contents (1 page)
This is an overview of the contents of your report. List the headings and sub-headings on the left, and the page numbers on the right. Use the heading text styles in Microsoft word as can do this automatically for you. The table of contents should not be more than one page long.
Introduction (Around 300 words)
This section includes a general overview statement to identify the topic, describes the
context of the report and the key issues, and provides justification for the research, defines purpose/aim of the research, and outline for the report.
From this section your reader should understand clearly what your industry issue is, why it is important, what your evidence is, what you will find out from the research, and how the rest of the report will be structured.
Critical analysis of secondary data and discussion of findings (Around 1100 words)
This section presents your analysis of the secondary research and should be structured around a set of themes derived from your literature review search. The themes are topics that you consider key to your industry issue, based on your review of the relevant research. In this section you need to think and write critically – i.e. considering different perspectives, theories, positions and strategies. You also need to synthesise the research – i.e. mix and integrate references that different authors make to the same topics.

Concluding remarks (Around 200 words)
In the conclusion, summarise the report so far: the industry issue, its relevance, and the key findings.

Recommendations (Around 400 words)
In this section, recommendations are the suggested actions to be taken in response to the findings of a report. List, describe and justify the main recommendations you would make to the intended audience of the report as a result of your secondary research. Recommendations must reflect and flow clearly from the discussion of the industry issue. These recommendations need to be meaningful and could be organised into themes or according to the stakeholder group they are relevant to.

Reference list (not included in word count)
List all the sources you have referred to in your report, in alphabetical order according to the first letter of the author’s surname. Use the APA UTS Referencing Guide. You need to include 30-40 references.
Appendices (not included in word count) – If you wish to include
An appendix is any extra material that you wish to include at the end of your report. It may be that it is not essential in the body of the report itself or is too lengthy and would interrupt the flow of information. It may be evidential material on which your findings are based (e.g. data from another source). Each appendix should be titled and numbered (e.g. Appendix A, Appendix B), and listed in the table of contents.
