Background Context
Throughout this module you will have been exposed to a variety of ‘perspectives on environmental leadership’ through engaging with the literature, listening to lectures, conversing with environmental practitioners. It will be evident to you by now that literature on environmental leadership is diverse, fragmented, grounded in multiple disciplines and contexts, and key terms are often understood differently. In the midst of this diversity of voices, this assessment task requires you to engage with, review, and integrate your learning from across the entire module.

Assessment Task
You are you write an article for the academic journal “Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability” (COSUST) on the topic of “environmental leadership”. COSUST publishes reviews and synthesis on current and emerging topics in the field, and articles are typically marked by both a concise review of relevant academic literature as well as original thoughts and opinions of the authors. Journal Editors commission reviews from experts on each topic that they have selected for publication in the journal. In this case, they have identified leadership for environmental sustainability as one such topic, and have asked you to contribute an article!
You should write according to the author guidelines of the journal (apart from referencing, which should remain as the Harvard style), and assume the typical audience of the journal. Your article should include a synthesis of relevant literature on environmental leadership, present relevant examples or cases, but crucially it should also present your own perspective or opinion on the topic. The word limit for this article is 2000 words, in line with author guidelines for the journal. The article will be marked according to the “Marking Criteria for Reports, Essays, Articles and Extended Written Responses”.
