Individual assignment – Poster
The need to create a workplace that acknowledges and nurtures equality, diversity and inclusion (i.e.,
EDI) has become paramount for healthcare. EDI at the workplace is important per se as well as for its
implications on a variety of organisational and individual outputs. This is even more so in the light of
the changes have recently affected the workforce. A non-exhaustive list of changes that have attracted
attention in the academic community and in the media includes workforce shortage and “quiet
resignation”, emphasis on teamwork, introduction of new technologies, artificial intelligence and
remote working, intense research-based collaboration within and across organisations, new forms of
leadership and a more transparent discussion around hostile and abusive workplace culture. All these
changes offer new opportunities yet pose potential challenges to the development of an equal, diverse
and inclusive workplace.
Select an aspect of EDI in healthcare that you deem relevant and investigate it through the lens of
Organisational behaviour. Summarise the results of your research in a poster that is targeted to a
audience of healthcare top managers.
Ensure that you reference at least 15-20 academic articles on your chosen theme. You can use
additional articles and/or complement them with empirical evidence from newspaper articles,
practitioner oriented reports, etc., However, please note that these are not included in the count of
required articles.
Poster structure: They are no content or style restrictions. To make your poster interesting and
captivating you are encouraged to use your creativity. However, please ensure that your poster
includes -but is not restricted to – the following elements:
1. Title
2. Background/introduction: This section needs to use only the key background literature to provide
context for the subsequent work reported. It can also detail aims of the research and what the
reader should expect to learn from reading the poster.
3. Methods: Contain key information regarding the methods used/proposed to be used should be
highlighted here.
4. Results: Summarise key results, making sense of them in the light of the general story conveyed in
the introduction.
5. Conclusions: Wrap up the story, convey the most important interpretation of the results and makes
any important suggestions for relevance to the field or further work that now needs to be carried
out.
6. Reference list in Harvard style
7. Anything else that you deem appropriate. Tables, figures, diagrams, etc. that help convey your
ideas in an effective and creative way are welcome.
Your poster must be in .ppt or A3 .docx format (portrait or landscape layout), look professional and
meet a good standard of legibility.
Word count: The word count for this assignment is 800* words +/- 10%. This word count also refers
to tables/footnotes, but not to references.
Notes: Notes must not contain additional content that would otherwise have contributed to the main
submitted document, other than for referencing reasons. This means that additional literature reviews
or reports should not be included as a notes.
Submission: The poster must only be submitted through TurnitIn by the 3
rd April 2023, 12:00pm.
Posters submitted after the deadline will be penalised according to the standard UCL rules.
Marking: Your poster will be marked according to the UCL grading rubric – level 7:
