Assignment:
The aim of this assignment is to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary literature and applied developments in the area of big data. There is a lot of research being conducted on this theme, but critical questions still arise as to how big data can generate demonstrable and sustainable competitive advantages. In this regard, write a report to:
Critically review the contemporary literature in the area of big data management to discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) of adopting big data initiatives in a specific industry of your choice (e.g., Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail and Telecommunication). Provide appropriate examples to support your arguments.

Instructions
The report should be well structured into different logical sections (e.g., Introduction, Background of the selected industry, Analysis of literature, Conclusion, References), and you should make sure that you write in a focused manner.

Your report should be typed with font size 12, and 1.5 or 2-line spacing. The word count excludes the title page, table of content, executive summary, references and appendices. You must reference your work correctly using the Harvard referencing style.

Important Notes:
Your assignment must be word processed in a professional report format and should be within 1000 words in length.
Your report will be evaluated on the basis of your critical understanding of the subject matter; your ability to draw upon relevant literature; independent thinking and critical analysis; and effective structure and presentation (see below for further detail).
Make sure that all sources are fully referenced using the Harvard system (surname,
date, page number if appropriate in the main body, alphabetical listing of references
at the end).

Module Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
understand how digitalisation and business are related and integrated;
analyse why do firms succeed or fail in digital transformation;
provide a bridge between digitalisation and business through the application of concepts in specific company case studies;
develop personal skill in analysing and evaluating business, corporate and strategies in complex cases.
critically evaluate the role of external and internal factors in the development of digital business strategies.

Grading Criteria:
Generic evaluation criteria include:
Understanding – Your work should demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of digital business. Works earning higher marks will clearly demonstrate, by appropriate and correct application, an understanding of the digital business concepts, theories, tools, techniques, etc., used in the submitted report.
Substantiation – The work should be underpinned by course material and additional reading around the topic chosen and tools employed. (Please only reference material you have read!)
Insight – Your work must demonstrate critical evaluation and insight into the digitalization process, digital business model and digital transformation
Clarity and structure – The report should be well structured and clearly presented.
