Coursework two – part two – 60% of CW2 mark (the other 40% will be from the online Quiz)
Option one – research cell-free massive MIMO and write a short report on this new architecture
of mobile network, and its advantages and disadvantageous. Your report should at least answer
the following questions.
key advantages of using a Cell-Free Massive MIMO system
the principle of channel reciprocity in a Cell-Free Massive MIMO system and how it is
utilized for channel estimation.
the concept of “pilot contamination” in Cell-Free Massive MIMO and how pilot
assignment strategies can mitigate this issue.
the challenges related to fronthaul capacity in a Cell-Free Massive MIMO network and
potential solutions to manage fronthaul overhead.
Option two – read 3GPP release 14 report(s) on Cellular V2X (C-V2X) and report a summary of
the functionalities. Your report should include the 5G configuration for C-V2X, the additional
functionality included in C-V2X versus regular mobile broadband, and advantages of C-V2X with
respect to ITS G5.
Independent of which option you chose, your report should be structured, include
references, and not exceed two A4 pages (font 11, single spacing). Mark will be deducted
from reports exceeding in length.
