Course Intended
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Illustrate how e-commerce is shifting the global economy and
changing the mode and design of work.
2. Formulate a framework for innovation and knowledge management
in organizations.
3. Devise procedures for generating innovative ideas and apply design
thinking concepts and appropriate tools to formulate innovation
strategies in an organization.
4. Critically evaluate the impact of emerging digital technologies on
society.
Details
This is a written assignment to assess learning outcomes 1 to 4.
The purpose of this assignment is to analyze the innovation and knowledge management
processes of a chosen company and make recommendations by applying the design thinking
concepts.
The report is expected to include:
1. Background of the company. e.g., its size, industry, company, major products/services,
business strategy, major business processes, organization chart, key personnel roles and
responsibilities, etc.;
2. Analysis of the current processes and problems of innovation and knowledge management
processes of the company;
3. Recommendations on potential improvement with the application of the design thinking
concepts and emerging technologies;
4. Demonstration of professional reporting and referencing.
Regulations
(About grouping and company selection)
i. Students are required to work in a group, of a size of 5 or 6 members, to complete the assignment.
ii. Each group is required to send the member list and the preference of company selection to the tutor
no later than 12-Oct-2023 (Thursday).
iii. Company selection is made on a first-come, first-served basis, from a company list provided by the
tutor.
iv. Each student is expected to show active participation and contribution to the work of the assignment.
Each student is required to complete a peer evaluation form and submit it via the OLE Class
Activity by the assignment due date, i.e. 3-Nov-2023 (Friday).
(About the report)
v. The report should contain no more than 3500 words (excluding tables, figures, and appendices).
The appendix should be attached to the end of the report.
vi. The information of: full name and student ID of every group member, tutorial group number,
industry and company name and word count, should be clearly stated on the cover page of the
report.
vii. Students are expected to follow the APA Style (7th edition) created by the American Psychological
Association when citing sources in their assignments. A list of references should be included at the
end of each assignment.
viii. All writings must be in your own words. If direct copying from any source is found, it will result
in zero mark to the corresponding part or the whole assignment.
(About assignment submission)
ix. Each group should upload a soft copy of the assignment, in MS WORD format, to the OLE of the
course by 5:00pm on the submission due date. 10% of the marks awarded to the assignment will
be deducted for each calendar day overdue until the soft copy of the assignment is submitted.
x. As a mechanism to maintain academic integrity, assignments uploaded on the OLE will
automatically be sent to Turnitin for plagiarism checking before final submission. Please refer to
