GROUP ASSIGNMENT

REQUIRED:

Write a report to the top management of the company. Your report should include the following:

Provide an overview of the company you have chosen. Your overview should include the business environment it operates, its operating activities, business risks and financial performances.
Based on your research into the company’s operations (1) above, suggest the most appropriate cost management approaches (e.g., ABM, BPR, LCC, Target Costing, Theory of Constraints, Throughput Accounting, TQM etc.). Justify your choice/s using illustrations from the company’s products and/or services. Use hypothetical but logical data/information if actual information is not available.
Research the company’s supply chain management and identify three suppliers of the company. For your selected suppliers, identify the associated costs and calculate Suppliers Performance Index (SPI). Based on your calculation, prepare a report to the management suggesting appropriate strategies to manage its suppliers. Use hypothetical but logical data/information if actual information is not available.
Similar to requirement (3) above, research the company’s customer groups and identify at least two customer groups of the company. Prepare a customer profitability analysis for the customer group you identified and suggest the appropriate company strategies to manage different customer groups. You can use hypothetical but logical data/information if actual information is not available.

In an appendix to the report (not exceeding 500 words), provide a group reflective statement that summarizes individual group member’s contributions, key challenges faced by individuals and the group in preparing the report, and the essential learning experiences of individuals.

INSTRUCTIONS

You must work in a group for this assessment. No individual assignment will be accepted unless prior approval has been granted. Each group should consist of 4 – 5 members. It is in your best interest to find group members who will work to maximize the assignment mark. Each group must email its members’ names and student IDs to the paper coordinator Dr Zahir Ahmed (email: zahir.ahmed@aut.ac.nz) by 5 pm on Thursday 4^th August 2022 (Week 3).
Please note that since the group members have been chosen by you, it is your responsibility to manage the group work and to ensure that each member contributes to the assignment fairly and equitably. This is to assess your ability to work as a team and work collaboratively to achieve the best outcome.
It would be best if you jointly work in answering all questions. Please do NOT just allocate each query/question to an individual group member to work on separately, as this will fail to produce a cohesive set of answers to this assignment. Please bear in mind that this mode of assessment is similar to those in the commercial world where teamwork is required to achieve a group outcome.
You MUST keep records of your teamwork and attach the worksheet with the report as an appendix (e.g., number of meetings, dates of meeting, meeting minutes, task/work/activities assigned and done by each member). This worksheet will not be marked; however, this is to demonstrate your teamwork and joint efforts in answering all questions.
Please see the attached marking criteria sheet. Write down the word counts at the end of your report. Marks may be deducted for not showing and/or exceeding the word limit.
The mark awarded by the teaching team for the assignment will be given to every group member provided they all equally contribute. However, if group members are concerned about any particular member(s)’ contribution, they are advised to indicate the individual’s contribution to the “Group Reflective Statement” submitted with the main report.

This assignment must be a Word document, single-sided with 1.5 line-spacing and using size-12 Arial, Times or similar font. Leave at least 2.5cm margins.
You are required to reference/cite at least five professional reports and/or articles published in leading journals in the relevant field within the last ten years. The use of Wikipedia and unverified sources is not acceptable.
