Assessment aims:
This assignment aims to support the presentation for the new product or service
proposal. Students will be able to expand on the information they delivered in their
poster and presentation, provide more detailed critical arguments in favour of their
product or service and demonstrate their understanding of the evolving transport
sector.
Task Description:
Students are required to complete an application for funding (fictitious) to develop
their new product or service. To replicate restricted online application forms of this
kind, a strict limit of 3000 words will be applied (amount per section detailed on the
form).
The final, total word count must be stated on the title page of the form. The
application should underpin the arguments given in the presentation and explain how
the new product or service will contribute to their chosen mode of transport. It is
expected that students will use various sources to develop their arguments in favour
of their product/service, thus in-text citations from reliable sources and a Harvard
style reference list should be included as normal.

Coursework Assessment Brief
For the funding breakdown, state how much of the overall amount applied for will be
allocated to different elements of the development of your product/service. This
might be for development, marketing, materials, personnel, equipment…etc. The
funding breakdown is fictitious and real life costs are not expected, but the amounts
should be proportionate to the product/service you wish to develop.
The “Transport Futures Development Fund” (TFDF) application form is available on
Learn, and is where you will really need to “sell” your idea, in order for funding to be
approved – impress me!!
Further Information
Each section of the form must be completed.
For help and advice on referencing, follow this link: Referencing help and advice, but
in brief, all sources cited in the text should appear, in alphabetical order, in a
reference list at the end of your report. All direct quotations should be placed in
inverted commas and accompanied by a page number. By thoroughly referencing
your work you are demonstrating the depth and breadth of your reading and
research, as well as allowing the reader to find the original work you cite.
Please note: The word limit (1,500 excluding the reference list, tables, and figures)
is designed to encourage you to write concisely and effectively. Please declare the
final word count on the title page of your report in the space provided.
Below is a break-down of the marks available for each component of the application.
Please use this wisely, along with the marking matrix (on Learn) to ensure a
proportionate balance of effort to reward, and to prevent any deviation from the
assignment brief.
