Full details are posted on Keats (see Assessment > CW#1 Description), but here is an abbreviated summary:
The purpose of the Mini-Proposal is for students to 1) clearly identify an infrastructural problem; 2) transform the selected problem into a central research question or set of research aims; 3) catalyze the research process (e.g., by specifying the scope of research and surveying the academic literature); and 4) obtain feedback from the instructor prior to final submission.
The Mini-Proposal should contain the following elements: (1) a problem statement that introduces a contemporary problem of infrastructure provision, and provides key background details and clear reasoning for your choice; (2) a brief summary of [at least] five high-quality information sources (e.g. journal articles, databases, high-quality news sources), including a concise summary of their content and brief discussion of how these sources—taken together or individually, in turn—will inform your project, chosen problem, or conceptual approach; (3) a preview of the central research question or aims of your essay; and (4) a task list or work plan to bring the project to fruitful completion.
