INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT (100 MARKS – 35%)

The aim of this assignment component is for the students to examine their learning processes and communication skills, as well as be able to make connections between theory and practice. This assignment is also designed to encourage them to become reflective practitioners in their future fields.

ASSIGNMENT QUESTION (35%)

You will be required to do ONE (1) REFLECTIVE WRITING task based on microeconomics application in the real world. The reflective writing is meant to be open-ended and could be informal, yet creative (if based on your own experiences and/or observations).

The word count for the report must be approximately 1500 words (5 pages). Details of the task and respective due date are given below.

Task

1. Reflect a MINIMUM of FIVE (5) microeconomics conceptual applications in the real world based on ONE of these main topics:

i) The Economic Problem, Nature, and Method

ii) Demand, Supply, and the Market Environment

iii) Elasticity of Demand and Supply

iv) Government Intervention in the Market

v) Technology, Production and Costs

vi) Perfect Competition

vii) Other topics (must be approved by the module leader/tutor)

2. The above real-world applications must be based on multiple concepts/related concepts that affect the behavior/activities of individuals, families, firms, and governments (you can choose only one group or a combination of two/more groups).

3. You may use as many examples/applications as possible (strongly encourage for better marks – depending on the topic chosen); however, your reflective writing must be of a good standard/quality. All citations and references must be included where necessary. ONLY NON-ECONOMICS REFERENCES ARE ALLOWED FOR THIS ASIGNMENT. HOWEVER, THE USE OF ONE MAIN TEXT IS ALLOWED FOR CONCEPTUAL REFERENCE.
